I didn't sleep all that well last night. Kept waking up. Not sure why, but I did get to see a spectacular sunrise, so there must be something good from that. I got up and made myself breakfast. A couple of tacos with the carnitas and the pickled onions on it. I sautéed garlic, onion, carnitas and cheese. Added some avocados and the pickled onions. WOW, it was really good. That Carnitas Man really knows what he's doing.

I fiddled around the condo a bit and responded to a couple of emails. Somehow I missed an email send the second week of January for something I ordered. Ah well. I responded to it and we'll see what happens.
After getting dressed, I headed into town. As I stepped outside the resort, one of the guys said something about my hair being different and he liked it. I had to laugh. Mexico and my hair does NOT mix. The humidity does weird things to it, and I cannot wear it straight. When I arrived, my hair was straighter than usual because I hadn't washed it in a couple of days. Now, I'm a dark headed Shirley Temple. Who can take me seriously with this hairstyle? Ah well.

I hoofed it to the stairway leading to town. This thing is either the stairway to heaven or the gateway to hell. After my sore calves yesterday, I knew this was the best way to work out the kinks and soreness, but that doesn't mean I was looking forward to it.
I stand at the precipice looking downward to my destiny. My calves are screaming at me to not do it, but this is all mental Baby! You'd think that the workout I do on the StairMaster would prepare me for this sort of thing, but it doesn't.

The entire staircase is about 190 steps. There's nothing consistent about them. They're just a chore to traverse. But, I make that staircase my bitch and head down to another place that I've had fun hanging out in and sipping an ice cold beer...which I do. I watch the pelicans do their "dive bomb" while sipping away. When I'm done, they bring me a shot of Cream Kalua...very yummy.
I then head into town and do a bit of sightseeing. Looking for a couple of things to bring home. I then head into Arturo's bar, Porto di Mare. This is the place that Hemmingway and John Wayne drank in. I had fun chatting with a couple of older gentlemen...Retired and living in Paradise. We chatted about politics, Americans, kids...you name it. And both gentlemen each bought me a beer. How awesome is that.

The guys started talking about a rib special in town, and it's been awhile since I've had ribs...so I head to the Flower House. For 180 Pesos ($8.87) get a rack of pork ribs (5 bones?), baked potato and veggies. Yum. As I was sitting there though, I did get slightly melancholy. Everyone around me is couples and I'm the only single person...sitting at their own table...in the place. People kept looking at me funny. The bottom line for me is...Life is too short to wait for the right guy/girl. I have to go out and live this life. I can't wait until I'm part of a relationship. And I'm not going to! I square my shoulders and sit up straight. I look people in the eye and I smile. I enjoy my dinner and then head out.
I need some paper towels for my griddle, so I get some. And I splurge on a little gelato. Who needs a partner when you're spooning creamy smoothness down your throat. The Gelato was 35 pesos ($1.72), and the paper towels 21 pesos ($1.03). As I walk through the town square, I enjoy the convergence of families purchasing food from the cart vendors, children running around and having fun. Lovers, hands intertwined and eyes locked. It is the perfect evening in the bay, and everyone knows it. I begin the journey back home and back to that staircase. Fortunately for me...my Cabo Chicks are waiting for me to get back and text so we can coordinate our tequila shots together.
Next year...girls trip?
