Fun Day HobNobbing About

Today we headed into town to check out the huge store.  K needed to visit the pharmacia for Retinol and we had fun walking around checking it out.  The cool thing about the big stores in Mexico is the variety of prepared foods they have.  It's always a blast to check out the moles' and the chile verde, the chicken, etc. I also love to walk the seafood counter and check out what's available.  They had these monstrous lobster tails that looked so awesome and smoked fish.  YUM!

Then there's the meat counter with all the different cuts.  Prime rib, rib eye, skirt, t-bone etc.  I love to price compare with what's available in the States and see if I'm getting a deal here...I totally am!

We left the store and headed downtown to shop in the stalls for souvenirs.  Holy Moly...some of the things they sell would make your hair curl.  Naughty!  We did come across some Seahawk stuff, like a ceramic skull with the Hawks logo, a back pack, and one of those wrestling masks that are so popular here.  That one had us rolling in laughter.

It's always fun to see the bargaining that goes back and forth. The vendors making a sale, the buyers making a deal and meeting somewhere in the middle to get what you both want.  They're coming younger and younger as well, with their little babies looking so cute.  Families running the stalls together. It is a way of life down here, and I do try to be respectful of those trying to make a little coin.

We built up a thirst, so we headed to Zorro's for a beer.  We walked along the cobblestone streets to reach our destination. It's pretty quiet and I suspect that everyone is taking a siesta...especially since its Friday night and the town square will be all abuzz.

Afterward, we headed back to the resort to relax, swim and freshen up for dinner.  Yes, dinner found us back at town center.  First though, I took them along the ocean walk so they could see it for themselves.  The ocean walk connects the Municipal beach to Playa Madeira. The weather was perfect. It was that time in the evening when the families were swimming and enjoying the water. So they got to see that bar that I still need to check out and see another great area to hang out.

When we walked back, we headed to the area around Zorro's. We decided upon a place called Murrillos. For $34(yes, that's for the 3 of us) R had a steak and fries, K had the skirt steak and a baked potato and I had ribs and spicy potatoes. We got to choose our sauces, so I went with a Mango BBQ.  The nice thing is that it was on the side, so I could put as much or as little as I wanted on my ribs.  There was entertainment, but we weren't to happy with it.  The Girl could sing, but she sang along to pre-recorded music that had a reverb to it.  Plus she had a mic...BIG MISTAKE! We couldn't talk and enjoy our food because the music was way too loud. If she would've turned down the music and left the mic at home, it would've been perfect.  Ah well.

After our meal, we decided that we wanted to stroll a bit and walk off the dinner.  We came across a band playing some rock.  Turns out it was a fundraiser for one of the band members who was jailed unfairly.  They were trying to raise money for his bail.

It's always fun to get the vibe of a town at night.  Believe me, everyone is out..the kids, the parents, the grandparents, the tourists....everyone is strolling, people watching and having fun, and we were no different.  R ended his walk with a cold refreshing ice cream and we headed back to the resort.
