Home Again

It's been 5 days since I got home.  Yes, my stinkerbutt kitties busted my chops a little bit.  But thankfully, my one troublesome Tahoe didn't slip into her old habits of peeing everywhere.  She stuck to her litterbox and I'm quite the happy camper.

But now I'm forced to face the music and be a responsible adult again. I have to decide whether or not to keep blogging each day on this travel blog, or go back to my old blog and start updating that...keeping this one strictly for travel.  That's the easy part.....

Now I have to figure out how to replace my vehicle, how to change my mother's living arrangements, file my taxes, work on the property, etc.  When you're single, it's a little daunting.  It was so easy when I was married.  Yes, I did the research on vehicles and made the decision on what vehicles we bought (for the most part), but I always bounced it off of my husband and made sure it was logical, etc.  Now, I'm spinning free, and although it's been 7 years, it's hard to overcome 24 years of "us". I worry about a lot of the decisions I'm making and am not so confident they're the right ones.

I had a couple of invites this weekend, but I really didn't want to leave the safety of my home.  I wanted to be home the first weekend, but I also kind of feel unsure of myself, of the questions.."What are you going to do?" "Have you decided what kind of vehicle you want?" blah, blah, blah,...  I guess I just wanted a weekend in my bubble, so....

I'm driving my "brother's" company vehicle, thankfully! It's a nice little ride, very comfortable and I like to joke that I'm the Advertising help for his business. I'm having a scoosh of trouble with the blind spots of the side windows, but other than that, I'm controlling my lead foot and driving responsibly.

I also tried my hand of making that wonderful "Avocado, tomato, goat cheese" stack that I ate at Porto de Mare. So yummy!!!  It turned out wonderful.  I happen to like the pungent taste of goat cheese, but for those who don't or only like a little...try alternating your cheese levels with soft mozzarella.  It works really well and still gives you those wonderful flavors that meld together in your mouth.

I visited my farmers market today (one of the blessings of living in California) and replenished some of my fruit and vegetables.  I love using cauliflower as rice, especially as fried rice, but finding a head of cauliflower that didn't have brown spots proved a bit monumental today.  I finally did.  I also got mandarins, cara cara oranges, mini bananas, green onions, potatoes, fresh ginger, avocados, tomatoes, and from my spice lady...peppercorns, english breakfast tea, vanilla chai tea and huckleberry tea.  I feel like I'm getting closer to having what I need in the kitchen.

I also did some house cleaning.  Do you have any idea how much fur 2 long-haired calico stinkerbutts leave on the only carpet in the house (my bedroom)? My rust colored carpet had a white layer to it.  Hey...at least they didn't pee on it, right?  My sofa also had a layer of fur.  So I went to work.   I also have a ton of laundry to work on, which isn't done, but at least I've made a dent.

My riding lawnmower is supposed to be fixed today, so as soon as we have a few dry days, I'll be out mowing the back 40 in no time...ok, fine..the back half acre!  I'm still going though my mail, but I did get an awesome letter from my 14 year old niece thanking me for being the most influential person in her life, a card from my Mother thanking me for being a wonderful daughter and a letter from my dentist informing me that he's retiring.  WHAT???  I drive 35 miles one way just to have him take care of my teeth.  What do I do now?  I'm not driving that distance of a dentist I don't know! Now I gotta go dentist shopping, and I'm heartbroken.  I love my dentist!  How many people can say that and actually look forward to visiting him.  Ah well, everything in life changes, right?  I have to put those "change management" classes to good use.

In the meantime, have a great Monday everyone.  I attached a map of Zihuatanejo  and you'll recognize some of the places I visited from the blog.
